The Hardware and Bandwidth Requirements

Before you hit "Go Live" on three different platforms, you need to ensure your setup can handle the load.

Unlike a single stream where you only need enough upload speed for one ingest server (e.g., 6000 kbps for Twitch), native multistreaming multiplies that requirement.

  • Single Stream (1080p60): ~6-8 Mbps upload.
  • Tri-Stream (Twitch, YT, Kick): ~18-24 Mbps upload.
  • Rule of Thumb: Always have 30% overhead. If you need 20 Mbps, your ISP should reliably provide at least 30 Mbps upload.

Hardware Encoding

If you are streaming locally using OBS Studio's multiple output plugins, your GPU will be doing double (or triple) duty.

  • NVENC is your friend: Modern NVIDIA GPUs (RTX 3000/4000 series) have exceptional NVENC encoders that can handle multiple encoding sessions with minimal performance hits.

The Biggest Challenge: Managing Chat

The technical aspect of multistreaming is the easy part. The real challenge is community management. When a user on YouTube asks a question, and you answer it, your Twitch chat has no idea what you're talking about.

Consolidated Chat Solutions

You must use a unified chat dock.
